Creative Color for the Oil Painter

This book by Wendon Blake is a broad survey of the use and effect of most of the tube colors a painter might encounter. It is very helpful for the beginner and even the more experienced artist.

John Sargent

Excellent Biography written in the 20's. Lots of insight to one of our greatest artist's mind.

Plein Air Painting in Oil

This is a great little book for someone who is starting out as a plein air painter. It's also not bad as a refresher for more experienced artists.
